Meredith Moriak
My name is Meredith Moriak and I am a journalism junior at the University of Oklahoma. My emphasis is in print and online journalism, focusing specifically on incorporating multimedia elements into each story. My reporting interests include education, diversity, community and legislative beats.
I am currently serving as Managing Editor of The Oklahoma Daily, The University of Oklahoma’s independent student voice. This opportunity allows me to manage a staff of more than 20 news reporters, select content for inclusion in the newspaper and online publication and provide reporters feedback as I edit their stories. I am excited to serve in this position as a leader in the newsroom and be an example for young journalists. Thorough my role as Managing Editor, I hope to encourage young writers by providing honest feedback, offering tips to make stories better and sharing stories of my similar experiences.
During summer 2009 I participated in the Freedom Forum’s American Indian Journalism Institute. This 10-day multimedia intensive workshop was held in Vermillion, S.D. at The University of South Dakota. After AIJI, I continued on to a six-week newsroom internship at the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, S.D. I worked full-time as a news intern reporting on breaking news, writing daily stories and business features.
I am currently in the process of updating this site, so please feel free to check back soon to look at my writing samples, biographical information, and resume.
